LEMON
One of the oldest and most useful natural cosmetic and medicines, the lemon plant was originally a native of south-eastern Asia until brought to the Mediterranean by Arabs 1000 years ago. Lemon oil has a wonderful toning effect, mild deodorant properties and provides a gentle exfoliant action. Lemon oil may be used undiluted on the skin to treat insect bites but it may sting.

Origin:	Asia. Today around the Mediterranean and in America.
Description:	The lemon tree is a small tree growing up to 16 - 18 feet in height. It bears smooth, deep green evergreen leaves and a green fruit that turns yellow upon ripening.
Fragrance:	Fresh lemon scent.
Perfume Note:	Top.
Extraction Method:	Cold pressing of the fruit skins. Sometimes steam distillation
Yield:	Approximately 1000 peels to yield one pound of oil.
Naturally Occurring Compounds:	Limonene, camphen, pinen, aldehyde, phellandren, methylhepton, a-terpinen, limonen, citronol, terpineol citral, linalyl-, neryl-, citronellyl-, geranyl-acetate, cadinen, acetic acid, caprin acid, lavrin acid, citropten, vitamin C, among others.
