MANDARIN
(Tangerine)

"Mandarin" is comprised of a group of similar citrus species commonly known as Tangerine,  Mandarin, European Mandarin, True Mandarin and Satsuma.  Mandarin was brought to Europe in the early 1800's and then to the USA in the 1840's where it was renamed Tangerine.  Although the names Mandarin and Tangerine are used somewhat interchangeably the oils are quite different in composition.  The true Mandarin (citrus reticulata) is the species most commonly used in aromatherapy.
